I heard a rumor someone was planning on sasquatch cosplay in your woods during some event Morgan. Did you hear this?

It's not looking good for that big hemlock tree. I played hole 9 today and it plays like it did before, with that tree in the way. The gap to the left of the tree is too small. You can hit it, but not with the power needed to park the basket. To the right of the tree is old hole 9, same as it ever was.

Tree needs to go.

From golf . com

"Definition: A par 3, or par-3 hole, is a hole that an expert golfer is expected to need only three strokes to complete. Par-3 holes are holes that are short enough that the golfer can try to hit the green with his tee shot. A hole's par always includes two putts, so a par 3 is one where the expert golfer is expected to hit the green in one stroke, then take two putts to get the ball into the hole."

A green in ball golf is way bigger than the 30 foot circle we consider a "green." I saw a couple people try for that gap to left of the big tree Sunday. I made both my drives a good 30 feet further than normal. My first round was a front of the cage miss for a 2. I think the tree needs to stay.

Ball golfers don't always need 2 putts on every green either.

Big hemlock "Mother picks up can" tree stays, but the shity half-dead birch is gonna be firewood by the end of the week. The gap will be bigger, so people can fire through there and get the 2 or play the normal way to the right of the big hemlock if they don't want to take the risk and get the reward.

The upgrade is done. Took out the ragged birch to finish clearing out a pro-route to the basket. The gap to the left of the big hemlock allows a big arm to park the pin for the 2 if you think you can. It's not an easy throw, so if you want to be conservative just go to the right of the big tree like before for the par. Anyway, now it's a true par 3 not a bogus par 3 that nobody can 2 without a 100 foot putt.

The only thing left is, if somebody wants to climb the big tree and prune all the little gnarly dead branches off'n. You need to climb 50 feet up to get 'em. My ladder is only 30 feet.

Morgan cut the couple of small trees in arm reach of the front right corner of tee 9. I had someone in my group hit their hand on the follow through. You should be able to swing with no worries off the tee pad. They are small 2in or so.

I'm not doing stats like before because we have enough data, but here are the stats for the new fairway for hole 9 (same pin same tee but cut trees for new route so you can get a 2)

People who 2'd hole 9 out of 72 players 2 rounds:

Jasan Lasasso
Thomas Bergman
James S (?? the scorecard says circle 2 so ???)
Dan Hastings
Erik Haenel

So it's not looking like an easy birdie after all.

Erik H. almost aced it (I was standing on 18's tee and saw it)

Nice work Morgan. I enjoyed looking at the data you've compiled and comparing it to the actual course that we played. It obviously must take a lot of time to enter all the data (2592 scores per event). I know you've withdrawn from doing the full statistical analysis, but it would be interesting to note if the percentage of pars and bogies on hole 9 has changed much.

This includes all players. The other stats I have is Open/M/GM and advanced only, some years I did 900 + rated players only, so who knows.

Out of 72 players 2 rounds on hole 9:

2's........5 (one of which is ?)
3's........71
4's........52
5's........9
6's........6
7's........1 (this is actually a missed hole 7 for a DNF player)
