Guys, i dont want to hit you cold next week... I was going to ask with everyone there why we didn't make more of an effort to capitalize when Albany County Convention & Visitors Bureau office reached to us last year. I thought that was a HUGE opportunity for us to grow the sport and we walked away (or we didn't and I just have no idea about it)
the email i got from her:
I wasn’t able to attend the Adirondack Sports Expo as I had the MAAC Basketball Championships in town and my role is to handle all aspects of the “athlete housing” for 20 teams/10 schools (excluding Siena), working with all the hotels. I found Discap through the internet while I was researching PDGA. I am attending the National Association of Sports Commissions appointment based trade show in early April and I was researching potential appointments. Last year I looked into the disc golf offerings and knew there was a good course and local activity. Your email earlier this weekend will help me in my appointment with the national sports event planner as I talk about our destination being viable for future opportunities. Of course, all events are a two way street – meaning, is there a local contingent that wants this type of activity and willing to step up and what does the national organization command in terms of active participation, i.e. bid fees, marketing support, complimentary items, etc…
It is my fear we grip-locked this (swidt?). I know these type of partnership/undertaking is "work" but it's what we should be hoping for (and doing) in terms of the desire to "grow the sport" isn't it? i.e. Developing partnerships with groups/people who can help us achieve what DisCap is in place to do.
...for the love of plastic don't turn this in to a personal attack
