Breaking news exclusive to DisCap
New hole 17 at Hyzer coming in the spring, will be ready by April Showers. No mud, no swamp, no wet feet, no rickety boards over a yucky little creek, no walking down slippery gang planks over quagmires.
2004-2007 Old 17 up the hill 710 feet par 4 sucked moose
2007-2011 New 17 200 feet par 3 ate gnu dookie
2011 NEW NEW 17 monster 750 foot par 5 blew chunks
2012 NEW NEW NEW 17 is a 650 feet par 4 and sweeter than honey over aspartame.

Re: Hole 17
Going to start work tomorrow.
Ain't no time for sorrow.
Got a new chain for the saw,
Gonna be shock and awe,
Gonna kill hundreds of trees tomorrow.
-
It's gonna be good
Gonna make fire wood
It's gonna be sweet
From your head down to your feet
Gonna be like disc golf should

Re: Hole 17
This sounds Awesome! Like a totally new hole 17? To the current 17th basket or not? where exactly is this going to fit in?
If you need to kill more trees early next week let me know. After movin back to the burbs my chainsaw is begging for some action!

Re: Hole 17
OK Will, meet me there at 1 AM with whiskey.
I mainly want to work off my winter potbelly. I figure I'll take my obesity problem out on some innocent hemlocks and maples.
New pin placement. You'll love it. No wetlands. 17 will be high and dry.

The cool thing is, when you hole out you'll be close to the little road that goes out to 10 (from tourney central). That road brings you out to 18.
It's gonna be oresome.

Re: Hole 17
OK as of today I'm done roughing in the fairway and green, and path to 18. Grooming will have to wait until the snow is gone. Kevin will be happy about all the stumps. Have to wait for the ground to thaw to move the pin over. When I move the pin and it becomes the official 17, I have 6 big trees that I need to drop into the shytty little 200-foot fairway we used to call 17, but complained about because of all the mud and muck and because it blew chunks and sucked moose. A disc golf course is only as good as its worst hole.
No more long 17 and short 17. Just 17.

Re: Hole 17
Today I moved the practice pin as a temporary pin for 17, so it's playable. Tomorrow I'm gonna fell some big trees to open up the new green, and I'll drop them into the old fairway to block off that crumby old mudway that used to be 17. In the spring I'll move the permanent pin over.
Today I'm putting up new signs.

Re: Hole 17
Done. Hole 17 is playable. Big trees felled, blocking old hole 17's shitway.
Tee sign in. Temporary pin in. All done until spring cleanup.

Re: Hole 17
No but it seems to have escaped the message board censor. Haha. When I was monitor of this board I had some funny words on the censor. I had "alot" censored into "a lot." I had shinola censored into shinola but if I could do it again I'd make it into shizzle. For a brief time I had plastic censored into polymer. People were always talking about their polymer. Jeff changed it back.
Shizzleway, folks. It was a shizzleway.

Re: Hole 17
Played it 4 times so far. Got a 7, 6, 5, and 5. Yesterday Ryan Clair got a 4 and Danny White got a 4 would have been 3 but for a small tree tap.
I think it's awesome. It's the 5th iteration of 17.
1. from near the creek up the hill to a pin near 12 tee. 600 feet. Too much uphill gruntage.
2. Upon urging from Greg and Tim, moved tee pad up and behind the creek to where it is now to reduce the uphill gruntage. 700 feet. Conflicted too much with 12.
3. short 200 foot hole we are most familiar with. Too much mud and mire. 200 feet Hyzer Swamp.
4. using the old tee pad from #2 iteration to hole out in #3 iteration. 750 feet. This really blew chunks on many levels.
5. Using old tee pad from #2 iteration to awesome new pin placement. 625 feet. PURE AWESOMNESS!!!!!!!!

Re: Hole 17
very nice work on the new 17 Morgan! It plays nicely from that spot and we all stay dry and happy :). Had a perfect tee shot today just past the 300 marker with a straight look at the basket and somehow managed a 6. I'll have my revenge next time!

Looking forward to the current reincarnation of Hole 17.
Sounds like the right mix of torture.
I plan to be up for Sun dubs, should be nearly snow free by then.
