2014 Vibram Birdie Bash! 6/1/14 - Hyzer Creek DGC

Announcing the 2014 Vibram Birdie Bash!

What’s that, you say? You hate that you never have a reason to get back to Hyzer Creek between April Showers and the Battle of Saratoga? Well, you are in luck! Sunday, June 1st will be the day. Hyzer Creek Disc Golf Course will be the place. 2 rounds of throwing Vibram rubber inside the unforgiving terrain of trees, rocks, and water. What could be better? Well, I’m about to tell you.

$30.00 entry fee gets you 2 Vibram discs of your choice. It also gets you a Birdie Bash dri-fit shirt, a Vibram mini, and a Vibram towel. Vibram is also ponying up Champion discs, a Spirit Award disc, and a Vibram Birdie Bash sling backpack as prizes! But wait. There’s more. Since this is a Matt Bertram joint, and I always try to make it worth your while, Dave at No Excuses Disc Golf is making 2 custom bags to give away at the Bash. So take notice all you out-of towners! This event will have prizes you won’t have the chance to win at any other Birdie Bash.

Here’s a quick run-down of how the event will work:

-You are only allowed to use the 2 discs that you get in your player’s pack.
-There will be 2 full rounds of play.
-Points are earned only by getting eagles, birdies, or metal hits. The round is not scored by par.
-Players earn 5 points for an eagle/ace, 2 points for a birdie, and 1 point for any metal hits.
-The hole layouts will not be altered, but several of the holes will have their traditional pars changed to allow more opportunities to score points.
-Points for metal hits can be added to any birdie or eagle points. For example: Hole 2 is listed as a par 4. On your second shot (eagle opportunity), you hit chains but it spits out. You score 1 point for hitting metal. You then sink your birdie putt. You score 2 points for a birdie. You scored a total of 3 points for that hole.

The player with the most points after 2 rounds is the winner!

This sounds amazing! I'm going to register but what are good options for the discs?? I have zero knowledge of Vibram other than the style reminds me of claymation.

The event says Hyzer Creek but the registration says Joralemon Park. Is this still planned for Hyzer?

The event was originally scheduled at Jpark so I think Vibram forgot to swap the underlying name when I changed it to Hyzer. But the event is definitely at Hyzer Creek.

Yay! BanjoNate figured out how to post on the boards. Welcome to the 21st century my friend.

Sounds like a cool event with lots of goodies, plus it will be fun to play Hyzer with adjusted par on certain holes. I'll feel like a pro for a day if I can pull off multiple birdies or even an eagle at the Crick!

Here’s a look at the bags I will be giving away at the Birdie Bash at Hyzer Creek on June 1st. The ½ Pack is a 10-disc bag with a ton of space for extras. It makes your Crunch Box cry at night. The T-bag is a 6-disc bag with room for your keys, wallet, cell phone, scorecard, mini, pencils, and a belt loops so you can use it for putting practice as well. It kicks the Nutsac right in its name. Remember! These are custom bags made by Dave at No Excuses Disc Golf. And they can only be won at this Birdie Bash. This is on top of the stellar player’s pack and the prizes already provided by Vibram. All for $30. How can you say no? Pre-reg now; the event is less than a month away!

People had asked, so just making everyone aware the cutoff for registration is Monday, May 26th by 5pm. Vibram shuts it down then. No wiggle room there. Don't wait until the last minute!
