I wish they didn't put the price in the article. Maple Hill charges $10 for all day and that is an established course with multiple NT's under it's belt to demand that price. I would like to see this course succeed and not have it compared against the #10th ranked course in the world.

In ball golf terms, they are charging Pebble Beach prices, $500 a round, to play Troy Country Club, $50 a round.

Yeah, I would love to support a pay-for-play venue but that price is steep and I don't have that kind of money to dole out each time I want to play a 9-hole round. I may never even play here, which is sad.

It should be $3 a 9 hole round. $5 for 2 rounds.

Pretty sure that's a typo. Last I checked it was $5 for 9 holes and $10 all day.

You also should understand that maintenance on a ball golf course is much more expensive.

You're right Jeff. Plus my observations of the ball golfers is that mulligans and a few practice shots are encouraged

i guess I asked a stupid question. do you have "...problems with disc theft and and confusion over which tee players are on..."

seriously, I hadn't (and have not) ever heard of any local parks with 1 or 2 baskets

As a coach for 19 years now, I have extensive experience dealing with the media. I have been misquoted/taken out of context many times. I'm thinking this is nothing more than a misunderstanding. I'm planning on a Father's Day round at Colonial if anyone is interested.

:text-threadjacked:

it would be cool if there was a coupla parks with such an ammenity. My son is a year and half now and for at least since 2014 (weather permitting) getting outside as a family is a major weekend goal. A round of disc, while certainly kind of tune with our goal, feels more selfish and like I am "dragging the family along" for my activity. Sometimes a we go for an all out hike, some times we go for a walk in the park (literally Saratoga State Park - tons of trails!) and incorporate lunch/picnic... i am getting off the topic of "Colonial Acres" here but if such a park existed it would be a target for us on one of those days... walk in park followed by lunch couple it with some putting around (not interrupting people playing a bona fide round of disc) I would have the chance for light exposure and NOT feel like i am dragging the family along. This could of course be remedied by carrying my own basket around with me but with baby boy (almost qualifies as toddler), there's enough to have to remember/carry/bring whenever we go somewhere.
It's a niche market, for sure - but I niche I fall in to.
this concludes the explanation for my original inquiry. I wasn't so focused on "calling out" the author or whatever other perception may have sprouted.

i hope i make it to Colonial Acres some day. honestly, i kind of hope I get to Stonykill and Blatnick first.

I repositioned and straightened a couple baskets today.

2 is 15-20 feet out from the woods now.

5 should be flat.

6 I moved to be on a flatter surface just a few feet from where it was. More in line with the tree on the approach.

Didn't move 7 but I think it should be.

8. Moved 10 feet right and further out from the woods. Flatter surface, not as bad to go a few feet long, and tougher righty spike hyzer.

9 pulled a few feet further away from the tall grass and made it flatter.

I put sticks under a few baskets too to straighten them out. Suggestions are more than welcome. 3, 6 and 8 are 3 of my favorite holes in discapland.

Aw, I liked 2 tight on the woods. The slope behind it gave the hole one of the better challenges in those 9 holes.

The baskets get moved every time they mow.
#8 sounds like it's right in the path from green to 9s tee, a location John and Dale asked us not to use.
Hoping to finalize locations so they can just mow around them.
